KREWE NEWS

Dear ATD NOLA Members,

As the President of the New Orleans Chapter of the Association for Talent Development (ATD NOLA), I am writing to update you on the state of our Chapter.

Over the past two years, our Chapter faced several challenges – not only the lingering effects of the global pandemic, but also Board turnover, resource constraints of remaining Board members, limited ability to provide programming, and a lack of participation in Chapter events.  As a result, we experienced a period of inactivity; however, we are not giving up on the New Orleans Chapter!  The very first meeting of what became the American Society for Training & Development (ASTD) and is now known worldwide as ATD, occurred right here in Metairie, Louisiana.  ATD NOLA represents the roots of an 80-year-old organization that is now in over 100 countries empowering professionals who develop talent in the workplace… and we have the charter to prove it!

Just as our region is resilient and comes back stronger after adversity, the ATD NOLA Board is committed to restoring our Chapter to a vibrant community where professionals make connections, cultivate talent and advance careers.  To that end, we have a roster of exciting events scheduled through 2025, a membership of 32 local professionals, funding to provide valuable programming, and an energized Board committed to our Chapter!

The Board has a great blend of experience and perspectives, with three returning and three new members. This dynamic team is dedicated to revitalizing our Chapter, but in the words of Ray Kroc, “None of us is as good as all of us” so bring your voice to the table.  In addition to attending events, you can make the most of your membership by getting involved: join one of our “krewes” to help with event logistics, welcoming new members, planning for the Chapter’s future, and more.

We want to express our deepest gratitude to those members who have remained loyal to ATD NOLA during this transitional period. Your patience and faithfulness to our community have been invaluable. As a token of our appreciation and an act of good faith, each member who was actively enrolled in ATD NOLA from January 2023 - August 2024 will receive complimentary entry to ATD NOLA events for the remainder of the year! We look forward to reconnecting with you at these events during the last four months of 2024.

We are also excited to announce the launch of our newly redesigned website. It is your “one stop shop” for all things ATD NOLA.  You can check out upcoming programming, read board meeting minutes, share a Talent Development job posting, sign up for volunteer opportunities, and more.  We know this new platform will serve as a valuable resource for our members.

Lastly, we are proud to continue serving the region’s talent professionals, and we sincerely thank you for being a valued member of ATD NOLA. Together, we can achieve great things and create a world that works better.

Yours in Crescent City spirit,

Kelli Zohar-Davis
President, ATD NOLA
