Studies from SHRM, Cigna, and Erich.org show that workplace loneliness impacts 61% of employees. Those lonely employees are twice as likely to quit and experience a 45% decrease in overall performance. With loneliness levels rising exponentially since the pandemic, there has been a disconnect in the friendships people are able to make at their jobs. So how can we combat this? How do we develop the future of workplace connection?

The undeniable truth is that friendships are beneficial to businesses at the macro and micro level; when you have friends at work, you want to be there. Trust is increased, turnover is lower, and self-awareness, understanding yourself and what you respond to in others, is high. These workplace connections involve more factors than one might realize — life stage, transition points, personality, and interests all impact how successful friendships are formed and how long they will last.

In this presentation, Angela Damiani, an engagement expert and co-founder of Like|Minded, a digital platform that fosters human connection through intelligent match technology, will discuss research on belonging and trust in work culture, the benefits of deepening connections across silos, how to build community inside the workplace, and tips to effectively engage your team by facilitating friendships.
