SMEs as Trainers or Talent Development Professionals: Why Not?

Many of us as Talent Development professionals came into this wonderful field as a Subject Matter Expert (SME). Let’s not forget the days of when we were SMEs with little to no formal training on how to implement the most effective principles of facilitation. Adult learning theories what? Andragogy who? Yet we made it!

Today many of us have found our niche in the landscape of Training and Development. As self-directed learners we’ve acquired and applied the tools to become solid professionals. The tables have turned, we are now charged to work with SMEs. There has been an influx of discussion on the topic of SMEs as trainers, and how we as Talent Development professionals can foster that relationship and support that dynamic.

Join us for our June Lagniappe as we discuss our experiences and best practices when coaching and developing SMEs to train!!
