Employee engagement is tremendously important– yet it remains a challenge for many organizations.

Employee engagement is like sending a man to the moon.  There is a lot of work, involved, it takes time, and lots of people behind the scenes to be committed to the project and sometimes there is an explosion, but when we get it right - it is such a win!  Organizations need to work past parties & potlucks to a deeper level - meaningful, growth, belonging, achievement and recognition. Join Darleen Lenyo as she explains how Crescent Bank is achieving this by hosting town hall meetings, chatting with the CEO videos where employees ask questions and gain valuable insights.  Engagement begins in the orientation process connecting the employee’s work responsibility to the organization’s vision and goals for the year, creating a sense of community, and recognizing achievements.

Darleen will explore ways to increase employee engagement using Gallup and other recent data to create strategy and execute an effective plan.

In this engaging and interactive session, attendees will:

    • Look for what data to analyze both externally and internally
    • Learn who is more important to employee engagement success (it is not C Suite)
    • Simple tools to create a winning strategy using OKR (objectives & key results)
    • Determine what's important to track and highlight
    • And most importantly, how to execute that strategy

Free Parking & Dinner Included in the Registration Price!

    Darleen Lenyo:

Her mother wanted her to be a teacher, but as a teenager she wanted to wear business suits and sign important business documents.  Darleen found the best of both worlds (and was able to make her mother happy), when she discovered Talent Development in the finance industry as a profession.

Starting her career as a teller in a local Seattle credit union, Darleen has 20+ years’ experience in employee development, helping 3 organizations develop training platforms from the ground up, and earlier this year, she spent two months in the Philippines implementing a workforce development program for off-shore account.

She currently serves as the Vice President of Talent Development and Employee Engagement for a New Orleans based bank and is the upcoming President for the Association of Talent Development’s local New Orleans chapter. She has been a certified Disc trainer for 11 years, has a Six Sigma Green Belt certification, and has owned and run two different businesses

How frequently is a jump-to-learning-solution approach used to address a business problem?  Example: “Our customer satisfaction ratings are declining. What training do you have that will enhance skills of our customer service reps to better work with angry customers?”  When learning solutions are implemented in this type of scenario the impact is minimal although the investment can be significant.  The challenge is how to influence the manager to put a “pause button” on the solution until more information is obtained.  Performance consulting is a process for doing just that!

Performance consulting is a process and skill set used by learning professionals to prevent the jump-to-solution approach.  Specifically, performance consulting is a strategic process that produces business results by maximizing performance of people and the organization in which they work.  Performance consultants translate business strategy into talent requirements, identify root causes for gaps in performance of people, and partner with clients to form a set of solutions to address these gaps.

In this session you will learn both the mental model used by performance consultants as they assess a situation and the technique of asking powerful questions to reframe a solution request into a discussion of a manager’s required business and performance results.  These questions are the kind that result in a manager saying “I don’t know the answer, but that is a terrific question. Can you help me get the answer?”   You will leave the session with a starter kit of questions you can use the next time a manager calls you to discuss a learning or HR solution.

    Objective

As a result of participating in this session, participants will be able to:

    1. Utilize a strategic consulting mental model to define and align four organizational needs:  business, performance, individual and organizational capability.
    2. Analyze a client’s request by using SHOULD-IS-CAUSE logic, determining information that
    3. Ask powerful questions to reframe tactical requests for learning and HR solutions into discussions of the client’s required business and performance results, determining the information required to move ahead strategically.

      Connelly Hayward:

I am passionate about helping people close the gap between what they do and what they are capable of doing; to realize and reach the highest potential within their own lives. When people are reaching a higher potential, so is the organization. Having served in a great range of roles from Plant Worker to President, I have a keen ability to reach people at all levels. I am committed to providing people, businesses, churches and organizations with viable tools that help them achieve higher levels of success. The fuel for all of life’s advancements and shifts, personally and professionally, is awareness. Awareness brings insight on skill sets, penetrates into clearer understanding of problems, and serves as a guidepost for action. I help people discover greater awareness of themselves and greater awareness of how they interact with people and situations. I help people and organizations identify and remove limiting beliefs. This discovery is the adventure in every keynote address, seminar, mastermind group or coaching session. The drive is to not just help others reach their potential, but to see it manifested – time and time again.
