With loneliness levels rising exponentially since the pandemic, there has been a disconnect in the friendships people are able to make at their jobs. So how can we combat this? The undeniable truth is that friendships are beneficial to businesses at the macro and micro level; when you have friends at work, you want to be there. Trust is increased, turnover is lower, and self-awareness, understanding yourself and what you respond to in others, is high. These workplace connections involve more factors than one might realize — life stage, transition points, personality, and interests all impact how successful friendships are formed and how long they will last.
